OneTouch Select® Test Strips
ВанТач СелектDesigned to measure glucose levels in whole blood using OneTouch Select® and OneTouch SelectSimple® glucometers.
Indications for use (instruction): OneTouch Select® Test Strips
The OneTouch Select® test strips and glucose meter are designed for self-monitoring of blood glucose levels outside the human body (in vitro diagnostics). They can be used at home by people with diabetes mellitus, as well as by doctors to examine patients in the clinic to monitor the effectiveness of diabetes treatment. The OneTouch Select® test strips and glucose meter are designed to analyze blood obtained from the tip of the finger.
Principle of testing
The OneTouch Select® and OneTouch SelectSimple® glucose meters are calibrated to plasma glucose levels, which allows you to compare their results with those obtained by laboratory methods. The glucose in the blood sample is mixed with special reagents in the test strip to generate a small electric current. The OneTouch Select® and OneTouch SelectSimple® glucose meters measure the strength of this current and display the blood glucose reading. The strength of this current varies with the level of glucose in the blood sample.
For detailed information on how to use the glucose meter and other important technical information, please refer to the user manual that came with the glucose meter. IMPORTANT. Before using OneTouch Select® test strips, read the Instructions for Use and the User's Manual of the OneTouch Select® or OneTouch SelectSimple® glucose meter. DO NOT use OneTouch Select® (VanTouch Select) test strips if the vial is open or damaged in any way, as this may result in an error message or inaccurate blood glucose results.
Storage conditions
• Store the test strip package in a dry place at a temperature (t) of 4 °C to 30 °C and a relative humidity of up to 65%. DO NOT store test strips in the refrigerator. Protect from direct sunlight and heat. Exposure to temperature (t) and humidity outside the recommended storage range may cause inaccurate test results.
• Test strips should be tested at a temperature (t) of 10 °C to 44 °C.
• Store test strips only in the original vial. To avoid damage or contamination, DO NOT transfer test strips to any other packaging.
• DO NOT open the test strip vial until you are ready to test.
• Immediately replace the OneTouch Select® test strip cap with the vial cap.
• Use the test strip immediately after removing it from the vial.
• DO NOT use test strips from a vial that has been damaged or opened.
• After opening a new vial of test strips, write the expiration date on the label. The new vial can be used for six months after it is first opened.
• DO NOT use test strips after the expiration date (printed on the label) or the expiration date, whichever comes first, as this may cause inaccurate results.
• Avoid contact of test strips with dirt, food, or liquids. Only touch any part of the test strip surface with clean, dry hands.
• DO NOT bend, cut, or deform OneTouch Select® test strips.
• OneTouch Select® test strips are for single use only. Never reuse a test strip that has already had blood or control solution applied to it.
• Before testing, make sure the meter and test strips are at approximately the same temperature (t).
• Only OneTouch Select® control solution or a blood sample should be applied to the test strip.
• After testing, DO NOT return the used test strip to the vial.
• Used test strips may be considered biohazardous waste in your area. Follow the advice of your healthcare professional and local laws regarding proper disposal of such items.
Please note that the OneTouch Select® meter requires coding. For accurate results when using meters that require coding, it is important that the code on the meter matches the code on the test strip vial. To find out if your meter requires coding and for detailed coding instructions, refer to the user guide that came with your meter.
The code on your OneTouch Select® meter must match the code on your test strip vial. You should check the codes before each test. The OneTouch SelectSimple® meter does not require coding (see the user guide and instructions for use that came with your meter).
• The OneTouch Select® and OneTouch SelectSimple® meters display your results in mmol/L (mmol/L) on the meter screen. If the display shows a different unit of measurement, call the LifeScan Helpline at: 0 800 500 353 (toll-free in Ukraine), Mon–Fri, 09:00–18:00.
• For accurate test results, use only OneTouch Select® test strips with OneTouch Select® and OneTouch SelectSimple® meters.
• If your blood glucose results do not match your symptoms and you have followed all the instructions in the OneTouch Select® or OneTouch SelectSimple® meter user guide, contact your healthcare professional.
• Never ignore symptoms or make significant changes to your diabetes management program without consulting your healthcare provider.
Warnings for use
Limitations of the Procedure
Test results using OneTouch Select® Test Strips will be accurate if the following limitations are observed.
• DO NOT use the meter to diagnose diabetes or screen newborns.
• Test strips are for single use only. DO NOT use the same test strip twice.
• These test strips are specific for D-glucose and do not react with other sugars that may be present in the blood.
• Use only fresh whole capillary blood. DO NOT use serum or plasma.
• Hematocrit is the percentage of red blood cells in the blood. Hematocrit levels outside the normal range may affect test results. If the hematocrit is less than 30%, the blood glucose test results may be overestimated, and if the hematocrit is greater than 55%, the test results may be underestimated. If you do not know your hematocrit, consult your healthcare provider.
• Other substances that may interfere with glucose testing: acetaminophen, salicylates, uric acid, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), and other reducing agents (found in healthy blood or at normal therapeutic concentrations) have little or no effect on the test results. However, abnormally high concentrations of these substances in the blood may cause overestimated results.
• In patients receiving oxygen therapy, the test results may be falsely low.
• Test results may be falsely low if the patient is severely dehydrated, in shock, or has high blood osmolality (with or without ketosis). Glucometers should not be used to test blood glucose levels in critically ill or critically ill patients.
• Blood with elevated lipid levels: Cholesterol levels up to 18.1 mmol/L (mmol/L) and triglyceride levels up to 33.9 mmol/L (mmol/L) do not affect test results. The meter has not been tested with blood samples from patients with severe lipidemia. The OneTouch Select® and OneTouch SelectSimple® meters are not recommended for use in these patients.
